Al-Hikma University Submits Official Request for Technical and Consultancy Support to Qualify “General Medicine and Surgery” and “Oral and Dental Surgery” Programs for National Programmatic Academic Accreditation
Al-Hikma University officially submitted today a formal request to the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council seeking technical and consultancy support to ensure the quality of the “General Medicine and Surgery” and “Oral and Dental Surgery” programs and qualify them for obtaining National Programmatic Academic Accreditation.
During the handover ceremony, the Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, Professor Dr. Adel Al-Mutahari, and the President of Al-Hikma University, Dr. Mukhtar Dael, signed an agreement to proceed with the request for technical and consultancy support, contributing to the implementation of quality assurance and academic accreditation requirements for both programs in accordance with the approved national standards.
The agreement includes initiating the self-evaluation procedures for both programs based on the Programmatic Accreditation Standards and Guidelines document, as well as the official templates issued by the Accreditation Council. The university also committed to implementing the self-evaluation study methodology within the specified timeframe, while the Council will provide the necessary technical and consultancy support to ensure the quality of both programs and qualify them for specialized academic accreditation.
Professor Dr. Adel Al-Mutahari, Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, affirmed the Council’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with Al-Hikma University and various Yemeni universities, contributing to facilitating the procedures and necessary steps to enable academic programs to obtain national accreditation according to quality assurance and academic accreditation standards, while enhancing higher education outcomes.
He pointed out that this step represents the beginning of completing the academic accreditation requirements through several stages, including preparing the self-evaluation study, conducting specialized training workshops, forming external review committees, and completing all files and procedures leading to the issuance of the accreditation decision.
For his part, the President of Al-Hikma University, Dr. Mukhtar Dael, explained that the university had previously obtained academic accreditation for several programs, including “Pharmacy,” “Civil Engineering,” and “Information Technology.” He noted that applying for accreditation for the “General Medicine and Surgery” and “Dentistry” programs comes within the framework of the university’s strategic plan to accredit all its academic programs.
He emphasized that this step reflects the university’s continuous commitment to quality assurance and academic accreditation standards and embodies its vision of building a modern medical education system that contributes to preparing qualified healthcare professionals capable of serving society and contributing to the development of the healthcare sector.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hussein Al-Hanash, Follow-up and Quality Officer at the Academic Accreditation Council, reviewed the conditions, procedures, and required steps for qualifying both programs for National Programmatic Academic Accreditation. He confirmed that the agreement represents a systematic framework for providing technical and consultancy support to ensure that the programs meet the national “NARS” standards and enhance the quality of medical education at the university.
