Within the framework of enhancing the practical knowledge and academic skills of the students of the Department of Information Technology, the department organized an open scientific week for extensive discussions of the projects of the IT project management and network management courses for second-level students and the digital forensics course for third-level students, which witnessed the presentation of a set of projects submitted by the students under the supervision of the specialized professors and academics of the courses.
The projects in the Systems and Network Management course focused on the design and management of modern networks, highlighting the configuration of local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), as well as protocol management and security applications in networks. Students reviewed new technologies in the field of cloud network integration, as well as strategies to address connectivity issues and provide rapid response to technical issues in business environments. The importance of securing networks against cyber threats and hacks, and the role of software tools in monitoring and analyzing data traffic to ensure stable performance, were also addressed.
In the IT Project Management course, students presented practical projects on how to use modern software and techniques to organize and plan large projects, with a focus on risk identification, scheduling, and budget management. Discussions were characterized by a focus on effective project leadership techniques, applying quality management principles and communication within different teams to ensure the success of the project.
The digital forensic investigation projects focused on the use of modern technologies in digital criminal investigations, such as combating digital crimes by extracting forensic evidence, analyzing digital data from electronic devices, and applying artificial intelligence in identifying criminal patterns. The students reviewed several software tools used in digital investigations and their impact on accelerating the process of collecting and analyzing evidence. They also discussed the role of cloud computing and information security techniques in protecting investigative data, ensuring the integrity of evidence and adhering to judicial standards in collecting and analyzing forensic evidence.
The discussions, which were attended by UQU President Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Dael, Vice President Dr. Majed Al-Qatawi, Dean of the College Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Balta, Head of the Department of Information Technology and Cybersecurity Dr. Mohammed Al-Jawda, Professor of Cybersecurity and Digital Investigation, Director of the Department of Cybersecurity Prof. Naji Al-Shibani, Policy Specialist, Academic Advisor and faculty member in the department Dr. Ibrahim Al-Haddad, Department Coordinator Prof. Dr. Haifa Al-Hammadi, Head of the Department of Communications Prof. Haifa Al-Hammadi, Head of the Department of Communications and Networks Dr. Yahya Al-Najjar, and course instructors Dr. Sadiq Al-Sufi, Network Specialist, Engineer Nada Al-Ansi, IT Project Management Specialist, Engineer Ghada Al-Alfi, Network Specialist, and Engineer Lina, Digital Investigation Specialist - there was great interaction from students and faculty members who provided valuable feedback and enriched the discussion with in-depth questions and analysis, which helped students enhance their practical and theoretical understanding of their fields of study. They also highlighted the challenges that students may face in applying what they have learned in the real world, and provided innovative solutions to overcome these challenges.
These discussions are an important step in enhancing students' capabilities and providing them with practical tools that contribute to preparing them for the requirements of the labor market. It also contributes to strengthening the relationship between students and faculty members and opens the way for future cooperation between the university and various industries in the field of information technology.
At the conclusion of the discussions, the academic staff of the department were honored, who were instrumental in providing students with specialized skills, and the department's outstanding students at all levels were also honored.
